AKC CGC Practice Test/Run-Thru

This is a practice, aka "run through" event for up to 12 teams to determine if they're ready to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluation scheduled for later this month at MDTC. All MDTC members and non-members are welcome.

AKC Evaluators will be available to pre-test your dog and provide you tips on how to improve your dog's training to pass each tested item, if necessary. Each dog team evaluated will pass or fail on each of the 10 testable items, allowed to repeat up to 3 items (only twice). A score sheet will be provided so handler will know what to work on before testing.

If your dog is successful on all 10 test items, you may pre-register for the upcoming testing event scheduled for Saturday, 6/22/24 at 12pm - the testing fee for the CGC test will be $17. For more information on this test, see the links below.

Required Equipment for Pre-testing:  Well-fitting buckle or slip collar (including martingales) made of leather or fabric are allowed. A harness is also allowed for both pre and actual testing. A 4-6 foot long leash made of leather or fabric (NO retractable leashes are permitted). Prong collars are allowed for pre-testing ONLY. A 20 foot long line/leash will used to pre-test and test all dogs on the long distance recall.
