We are very fortunate to belong to the Merrimac Dog Training Club and to have a wonderful 10,000 square foot building in which to train. There is no other facility like it in the area. We all volunteer to help make this possible.
Our Training Area
Our members are friendly, helpful, energetic and most of all - LOVE DOGS. We hold classes in obedience, rally, agility, and conformation in addition to other interesting classes which are held from time to time. Our instructors all have titles in the classes they teach.
To be eligible for membership you must meet the following requirements:
1. Have your Prospective Member Application form on file for at least six months. Waiting time is retroactive to the date of your first MDTC training class during the year in which you apply for membership.
2.Complete any two non-concurrent training sessions.
3. Attend at least two (2) General Membership Meetings prior to the Board of Directors voting on your membership. Meetings are held 7:30 PM every other month beginning in January on the second Monday of the month. Be sure to sign in to acknowledge your attendance.
4. Complete 15 hours of service to Merrimac.
5.Complete all requirements within a 12-month period from the date of your application.
6.When you complete your requirements, submit your 15 hour service log, membership application form and $110.00 to the attention of the Membership Chairman.
PLEASE NOTE: (As of July 2011, the membership voted to require all members to pay a monthly Building Assessment Fee of $20.) As of January 1, 2016, the Building Assessment Fee has been reduced to $10 per month. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS, but will need to be paid when you become a member. This fee has been deemed necessary to keep up with costs of keeping our building. Should this Building Assessment Fee still be in effect when you become eligible to become a member, you would then be required to pay that monthly fee starting the first month you become a member.
A Prospective Member Application is also available at the club building. When you have completed your Prospective Member requirements, To get a Membership Application for calendar year 2016, click here for pdf format, or here for Word format.
Application mailed to you, email the Membership Chairman Sherry Bryant firstname.lastname@example.org. Or you may call the club phone at (757) 723 - 8141 and leave a message to ask the Membership Chairman to give you a call.
