Our Merrimac Dog Training Club members love dogs and consequently are involved in many activities throughout the Hampton Roads region.
These activities include Workshops, World of Pets Expo, Mutt Strut, Paws for a Cause, Hampton Holiday Parade, health clinics and more.

Beth Ann has trained obedience since 2006, and K9 Nose Work since 2011. She is a Certified Nose Work Instructor through NACSW, CPDT-KA, & AKC CGC Evaluator. She holds degrees in biology and liberal studies, and lives on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.

Ready, set, search! Nose work is an activity and sport based on detection dog training techniques. Any dog can do it, including yours! We’ll harness your dog’s natural instinct to follow scent to source, challenge his problem-solving ability, and develop focus and confidence at the same time. Limited to 12 working teams per 3-hour class-Specify class time: 9a-noon or 1p-4p. Note: You must attend class on 5/20 to attend 6/3 class. $80 per working team per class/per day. Jo Downing UT-CCF FitPaws Trainer’s lecture and technical use of FITPAWS Equipment. Benefit your dog in Sport, Rehabilitation and Life! Certified instructor in a variety of canine sports including CGC/Therapy Dog, Manners Classes and Agility. Strength, fitness and conditioning is nothing new to her.
From an early age Downing lived a life partnership with physical sport accomplishments; basketball, soccer, track/distance running and cheerleading.
Awarded two college athletic scholarships, she began her career. By going through reconstructive surgery and physical therapy due to an ACL injury Jo learned first -hand to appreciation, understand and value fitness training! Becoming a FitPaws Certified Instructor was a natural way to help all dogs!
